Tamil Nadu native drowns in Walayar dam

Palakkad: A 21-year-old man from Tiruppur, Tamil Nadu, died after drowning in Walayar dam on Sunday. The deceased was Vishnu, an employee of a private firm in Madukkarai.According to reports, Vishnu had arrived at the dam along with his colleagues for an outing. The incident occurred at the side of the dam close to the Tamil Nadu border. While bathing, Vishnu reportedly slipped into a deep pit and was pulled under. Friends and locals immediately launched a search but were unable to locate him. Later, a fire and rescue team from Kanjikode reached the spot and conducted a search operation, eventually retrieving the body. The body has been shifted to Palakkad district hospital for postmortem.
