SHRC demands resolution to drinking water issue in Kochi

Kochi: State human rights commission (SHRC) chairperson Justice Alexander Thomas has demanded an immediate resolution to the complaint that clean water supply has been disrupted in Vennala, Madapat Road, Maithri Road, Kuttikkad Lane, AKG Library Road, Souharda Nagar, Haritha Road, Shanthi Nagar and Kaniyaveli Road in Chakkaraparamba division under Kochi corporation.Commission has given the instruction to Kerala water authority (KWA) executive engineer. Assistant executive engineer should be assigned to investigate. Corporation councillor should be heard. Reasons for interruption in drinking water supply should be found. Based on this report, executive engineer should submit a report within a month, the commission ordered.The order said that KWA assistant executive engineer should appear in person at the sitting to be held at PWD Rest House in Pathadipalam on July 14 and present the facts to the commission. The action is in a case registered voluntarily by SHRC based on media report.
