Oppn flags ‘deception’ in Wayanad Township housing
Kochi: State govt cheated Wayanad landslide victims by inaugurating houses built to rehabilitate them without even completing the work, alleged opposition leader V D Satheesan.Speaking to the media in Kochi on Sunday, Satheesan asked what revenue minister K Rajan had to do with checking the leak of buildings. He was responding to Rajan inspecting the houses following reports that some of the houses built for rehabilitation had leaks."The accusation against us is that we didn't start work the day after (Opposition Leader in Lok Sabha) Rahul Gandhi laid the foundation stone. Meanwhile, no one has been able to live in the houses inaugurated by the chief minister. The construction hasn't reached a state where people can live in them. The inauguration was a deception to fool people before the election," he said. "Had the work been complete, keys would have been handed over the next day. The inauguration was done without completing the work, especially during the election period. It was celebrated with thousands of boards across Kerala. Serious irregularities have been alleged in connection with the construction," he added.
"Answers will have to be given for all this. Time will demand an account for them. The false campaigns conducted during the election period are coming to light one by one. Many more things are yet to be revealed," Satheesan said. The Sabarimala gold heist case will end without reaching anywhere due to the special investigation team's (SIT) failure. "The chief minister's office exerted undue pressure on SIT to prevent filing a chargesheet, allowing the accused to get bail. When it was said that all the accused would come out and destroy evidence, it was alleged that opposition leader was speaking against the court. As opposition leader, I shared the concern of every Malayali," he said. Enforcement directorate (ED) will conduct an investigation in cases related to Pinarayi Vijayan and CPM,Satheesan said. "What happened to the case that was supposed to be investigated by SFIO and the summons sent by ED to chief minister's son?" he asked.ED was tightening its grip in Karuvannur Cooperative Bank scam during Parliament elections, but it was loosened after CPM leaders helped the BJP candidate win, Satheesan alleged.
