Jodhpur: Three person died of poisonous gas while digging an abandoned salt well in Baap tehsil in Phalodi on Sunday. All the deceased were relatives, of which two were brothers. The well is said to have been abandoned since 2007 and the deceased, who had been engaged to dig it, were new for the task.SP (Phalodi) Hanuman Prasad Meena said that the bodies were handed over to the family members after post-mortem. However, no case has been registered against the owner, possessing the well.“We have not yet been given any complaint by any of the family members so far,” said Meena. The victims have been identified as Lakshman Bawari (23), his brother Ravidas Bawari (21) and their brother-in-lw Tilokaram (30).According to the information, one Shyam Sunder Sain has a salt unit under Baap’s Jamba police station.“He had a well of salt lying abandoned since 2007 in his unit. He had engaged the victims for cleaning and digging this well,” said the police.Two of them, Lakshamn and Tilokaram entered the well while Ravidas stood at the edge of the well. When they began digging in the well, some poisonous gas chocked them. They cried for help, listening to which Ravidas also entered into the well, but he was also chocked. “All the three died of the gas in the well. We rushed to the spot and roped in resources, but they could not be taken out live,” said an administrative official.
