Raj to restructure excise dept into 53 dist units, 286 circles
Jaipur: The excise department is set for its most significant administrative restructuring in decades, with the state govt approving a new framework under the Integrated Excise Enforcement and Prevention Force. The overhaul abolishes several long-standing posts and offices while creating a new multi-tier structure aimed at strengthening enforcement and improving administrative efficiency. As per the revised proposal, “The traditional posts of district excise officer (DEO), circle inspector offices, preventive branch offices, assistant excise officers and conventional excise police stations will cease to exist. In their place, the department will operate through offices headed by additional commissioners, deputy commissioners and excise officers.”Officials said the designation of district excise officer will be discontinued.
