Indore: The Dewas excise department allegedly busted an illicit liquor home service racket operated entirely via mobile phones, seizing 84 bulk litres of illegal liquor worth Rs 79,000 and arresting one person.
Acting on a tip-off, a joint team of the excise department and the local police raided the residence of Amit Rathore in Jaiprakash Nagar. During a search of the house, officials recovered a cache of illicit liquor and arrested Rathore from the spot.
Police said the accused allegedly used mobile phones to take orders. Once a booking was confirmed, the liquor was delivered either to predetermined locations or directly to customers’ doorsteps.
“A case was registered against the accused under the Excise Act, 1915,” assistant excise commissioner Manish Khare said.
