HYDERABAD: An alcoholic labourer allegedly bludgeoned his wife and their son to death at their house in a hamlet in Amangal in Rangareddy district on Tuesday. The accused's daughter, who was also attacked, is undergoing treatment at Osmania general hospital.
Police said the accused, Banavath Ramdas Naik from Puligonipalli thanda, had an argument with wife
Kavitha, 31, late on Monday night over his drinking habit.
"They had an argument again and in a fit of rage, Naik picked up a pestle from the kitchen and attacked Kavitha on the head. She collapsed on the spot. Hearing the noise, their children Harshit, 7, and Pranitha, 9, woke up.
They saw their mother lying on the floor with a bleeding injury and started screaming for help. Naik assaulted them with the pestle and they too collapsed with head injuries," Amangal inspector K Venkateswarlu said. Police picked up Naik from the hamlet, and he is in custody.
A case was registered against him under sections 103(1) (murder) and 109 (attempt to murder) of the BNS. "Kavitha and Harshit died on the spot. We shifted Pranitha to OGH. Her condition is critical," the inspector said.
