Lightning kills 18 sheep in Hebbal village

Kalaburagi: Eighteen sheep were killed in a lightning strike amid heavy wind and rain at Hebbal village in Kalagi taluk of Kalaburagi district on Tuesday evening. Jagappa, Mallappa, and Dasaratha, shepherds from Hebbal village, had taken their sheep to the outskirts for grazing. Around 5.30pm, it began raining suddenly, and a lightning strike killed 18 sheep.More than 250 sheep were saved in the incident. The lightning strike caused losses worth lakhs of rupees to the shepherds. Personnel from Madabul police station visited the spot after receiving information and conducted an investigation. Villagers demanded that the govt provide appropriate compensation to the affected herdsmen and urged officials to visit the site.
