UCC to benefit women, especially Muslims: BJP

Dhubri: Assam state BJP spokesperson Bonendra Kumar Mushahary, briefing on the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) at the Dhubri district BJP headquarters on Tuesday, said the law passed by the present NDA govt on May 28 in the assembly would have a positive effect on women in the state. Mushahary said the Supreme Court had delivered verdicts on women’s issues and had urged the central govt as many as three times to bring in the UCC — in 1985, 2003 and 1995 — to protect women’s rights, particularly those belonging to the minority community.
