SILCHAR: The father-daughter duo from Bangladesh – who were arrested in the early part of the last year after being found in Assam’s Karimganj district without any valid document and sent to a transit camp in which they completed their jail terms – were deported to their native country via the India-Bangladesh international border in Karimganj district’s Sutarkandi on Monday.The two Bangladesh nationals, who were repatriated on Monday, are Moinul Mulla and his daughter Meena Khanam, residents of a village in Bangladesh’s Narail district.As per reports, Moinul and Meena were arrested in Karimganj district after they were found in Indian territory without valid papers. Travel permits were issued for them on November 23, 2023, and further formalities were completed. On Monday afternoon, they were sent back to Bangladesh.Moinul told the media before leaving for Bangladesh that he came to India illegally with the help of an agent for his daughter Meena’s medical treatment. He said he would visit India again in the future with his family, but with valid passport and visa.
