Panaji: The state cabinet on Wednesday granted approval and expenditure sanction of Rs 58 lakh for by m/s Samruddhi Nursery for undertaking the fabrication, installation and development of vertical garden and associated landscaping work “on nomination basis” at the assembly complex at Porvorim.
The work was taken up without following codal formalities in view of the urgency of undertaking the said work of beautification and landscaping around the assembly premises due to the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association, India region, Conference, the cabinet said.
The state assembly hosted a Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA), west zone conference in April that was attended by speakers, ministers, members of the Parliament and MLAs from various States.
“As limited time is available before the event, it was decided by the legislature secretariat to entrust the work to an agency on nomination basis, as it was not possible to follow the tendering process, which is time consuming. Accordingly, the work of fabrication, installation and development of the vertical garden and associated landscaping was allotted to Samruddhi Nursery, who has two decades of experience as a landscaping agency and in biodiversity conservation,” the cabinet said.
