Burglars steal 3kg silver worth Rs 12 lakh from jewellery shop in Krishnagiri village
Police inspected the crime scene and formed special teams to nab the burglars
Krishnagiri: Unidentified burglars drilled through the rear wall of a jewellery shop at Varattanapalli village near Krishnagiri and made away with nearly 3kg of silver articles worth Rs 12 lakh, on Friday night.The incident came to light early on Saturday morning when the owner, Saravanan, opened Bragadeeswarar Jewellery and found valuables scattered inside. Police said the burglars used advanced drilling equipment to bore through the side wall during the night and entered the shop.“The gang had also attempted to break open an iron locker containing gold jewellery but failed,” said P Thangadurai, Krishnagiri district SP. He added that the locker key was hanging inside the shop but went unnoticed by the intruders. Nearly 2kg of gold ornaments stored inside remained untouched.Following Saravanan’s complaint, Bargur police reached the spot and began investigating. Krishnagiri district superintendent of police Thangadurai also inspected the crime scene.Fingerprint experts collected evidence and sniffer dogs were deployed to track the burglars. Police said special teams are on the hunt for the culprits.
