Police arrest accused after elderly woman alleges harassment: Minister

Chandigarh: Mansa police have arrested a man accused of harassing and exploiting an elderly woman after the social security department intervened in the matter, Punjab social security, women and child development minister Baljit Kaur said on Wednesday.The minister said the woman had approached authorities alleging harassment and mental distress arising from a family and property dispute.Taking note of the complaint, the district social security officer in Mansa coordinated with the authorities, following which police registered an FIR and arrested the accused, she said."Any form of abuse, neglect or exploitation of senior citizens is unacceptable and will not be tolerated under any circumstances," the minister said.
