Chandigarh: Punjab assembly speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan on Monday nominated chairpersons for various House committees for the 2026-27 legislative term, with all 15 panels being headed by MLAs of the serving Aam Aadmi Party govt in Punjab.
AAP's Amritsar South MLA, Inderbir Singh Nijjar, was appointed chairman of the public accounts committee, while AAP MLA from Bathinda Urban Jagroop Singh Gill was named chairperson of the committee on public undertakings.
The House committee will be headed by deputy speaker Jai Krishan Singh in his capacity as ex officio chairman.
Among other appointments, Manjit Singh Bilaspur will head the committee on estimates, Sarvjit Kaur Manuke the committee on welfare of scheduled castes, scheduled tribes and backward classes, and Kulwant Singh the committee on local bodies.
Budh Ram will chair the committee on panchayati raj institutions, Gurpreet Singh Banawali the committee on agriculture and allied activities, and Sarwan Singh Dhun the committee on cooperation and allied activities.
Kulwant Singh Pandori was appointed chairman of the committee on privileges, Davinderjit Singh Ladi Dhos of the committee on govt assurances, and Kulwant Singh Sidhu of the committee on subordinate legislation.
