Amritsar: Officiating Akal Takht jathedar Giani Kuldeep Singh Gargajj on Sunday congratulated Punjab sprinter Gurindervir Singh for breaking the national record in the 100-metre race and becoming India's fastest runner after clocking 10.09 seconds.
In a statement, Gargajj said the Sikh community was proud of the achievement of the "sabat soorat" Sikh athlete and described it as an inspiration for Sikh youth across the world. He urged youngsters to draw motivation from Gurindervir's success and excel in every sphere of life.
The jathedar said it was a matter of pride that Punjab's Sikh youth were bringing laurels to the community at national and international levels.
Appealing to the youth, he asked them to remain committed to education, sports, honest work and selfless service while staying away from drugs.
