Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: A day after a drone was found lying in bushes near a watch tower inside the airport's high-security zone, police commissioner Pravin Pawar has proposed creating a database of all professional and personal drones operating in the city to strengthen surveillance.
Pawar said, "We are considering compiling a detailed database of all the drones in the city, including those used for commercial and personal purposes. This will help us ensure accountability in case of any violation."
He added that the police have already held meetings with marriage hall operators, event management firms, videographers and photographers, directing them to ensure that drones are not used near sensitive areas without prior permission from the police.
"Last year we registered four FIRs for violation of drone norms," Pawar added.
Police sources said the proposed database would require drone owners to register their devices, submit technical specifications and provide identification details.
The drone recovered from the airport premises has undergone technical analysis. Investigators said it was of a lower grade.
