Ahmedabad: The State Examination Board has declared the results of the assistant education inspector aptitude test (AEIAT) conducted on March 1. Out of more than 25,000 registered candidates, 17,119 appeared for the exam, while 8,872 remained absent, recording an attendance of 65.87%. Of those who appeared, only 2,768 candidates qualified for the next stage. Notably, just eight candidates managed to score above 150 marks out of 200, reflecting the competitive nature of the exam. Around 2,020 candidates scored above 80 marks, which is the qualifying benchmark for the general category, while 70 marks (35%) is the passing criteria for reserved categories.The exam was conducted across 137 centres and 1,302 blocks in four major cities — Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Rajkot and Surat — for filling Class-III vacancies through direct recruitment.Candidates who have cleared the preliminary test will now appear for the main exam, which will include descriptive and objective components. As per board rules, candidates up to seven times the number of vacancies will be shortlisted category-wise. The preliminary exam serves only as a screening test, and final selection will be based solely on performance in the main exam.
