Agra: Three members of a family from
Haryana —
Sandeep Kumar, 40, his son Vansh Kumar, 10, and nephew Narender, 20 — were killed after a speeding truck allegedly hit their motorcycle from behind on Delhi-Haridwar National Highway in Muzaffarnagar’s Chhapar area on Saturday morning, police said.
Sandeep, a barber, was travelling to Haridwar with Vansh and Narender when the accident took place. Chhapar SHO Mohit Sehrawat said the family had tied a bag to the motorcycle’s rear carrier. “It appears that the bag got caught in the truck, which may have led to the accident,” Sehrawat said, adding that a case would be registered after a complaint was received.
The driver fled after the accident, which led to a traffic jam stretching nearly 1km on the highway and drew a large crowd. Passers-by informed police, who reached the spot and sent the bodies for postmortem. DSP Ravi Shankar said police were examining CCTV footage from the area to identify the truck and trace the driver.
