Mussoorie: Sir George Everest House after renovation attracts tourists

The restoration work of Sir George Everest House in Mussoorie has been completed at a cost of Rs 23.69 crore. It was inaugurated by Uttarakhand Tourism Minister Satpal Maharaj. Sir George Everest House built on 172 acres of land near Mussoorie and 50 meters away from the Observatory has been developed which has become a center of attraction for tourists. Renovation work had begun in January 2019. In its renovation, Lahori bricks have been used in the chakko by grinding lime, surkhi, fenugreek and urad dal with water and making a paste-like cement. Sir George Everest had spent a long period of his life in Mussoorie. He was the first to tell the exact height of Everest. Therefore, on the recommendation of British surveyor Andrew Waugh, in 1865 this peak was named after Sir George Everest.
