India’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, P Harish, strongly criticised Pakistan at the UN while raising concerns over Islamabad’s past military actions in Afghanistan and its role during the 1971 Bangladesh conflict. Speaking at the United Nations, Harish referred to a “barbaric airstrike” allegedly carried out by Pakistan during the holy month of Ramadan in March this year on the Omid Addiction Treatment Hospital in Kabul, Afghanistan. He also recalled the atrocities and violations committed during the 1971 Bangladesh Liberation War, bringing attention to Pakistan’s historical record on civilian attacks and regional instability. The remarks come amid heightened diplomatic tensions in the region, with India using the global मंच to counter Pakistan’s narrative on security and terrorism-related issues. Harish’s statement has triggered sharp reactions online, with many calling it a direct diplomatic offensive against Islamabad at the international forum.
