Tensions in the Gulf are escalating after reports of explosions at Al Udeid Air Base, the largest United States military installation in the Middle East. Unverified reports suggest loud blasts and sirens were heard at the base in Doha, raising fears of a fresh Iranian strike. Early alerts indicate the base may have been directly targeted, with possible impacts reported in the area. Since the war erupted following US-Israel strikes that killed Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, Tehran has repeatedly targeted Al Udeid with drones and missiles. If confirmed, the strike would mark one of the most direct attacks on US forces in the Gulf during the escalating conflict between Iran, Israel and their allies — a move that could further drag Washington into a wider Middle East war.
