Lithuania's President Gitanas Nauseda has revoked retired Olympic figure skater Margarita Drobiazko's Lithuanian citizenship due to her support for Russia. Drobiazko, who was born in Moscow and represented Lithuania in five Olympic Games, has been accused of breaking her oath and discrediting Lithuania by cooperating with Russia. Last year, Nauseda also stripped Drobiazko and her partner of Lithuanian state decoration after they performed in a skating show in Russia.

Russian figure skater Kamila Valieva, a prodigy known for her speed and record-breaking performances, faced a doping controversy at the 2022 Olympics. Despite initial success, a positive test led to a four-year ban, voiding her results and impacting her career. She is currently training privately, with a potential return in late 2026.
