This slice-of-a-life drama will also see Rituparna Sengupta playing a single mother. ‘Akorik’ is a story of a 75-year-old man, who grew up in a traditional Bengali joint family system, and a 10-year-old boy, who lives with his mother – a single parent.

Veteran actor Victor Banerjee is all set for his comeback to Bengali cinema in tathagata bhattacherjee-directed 'Akorik’. The film is also Victor’s reunion with Rituparna Sengupta after a long gap. ‘Akorik’ is a striking tale of a bonding between a 75-year-old man, who grew up in the traditional joint family structure, and a 10-year-old kid who lives with his single mother. The two connect despite coming from different family structures and embark on a brief but significant journey together.

The two-day short film festival here will feature movies, including those by local directors, that focus on social problems and day-to-day issues.

Global terrorism, child abuse, sexual harassment, pollution are some of the issues which will come alive through protagonists' experience and creative presentation and lens will help weave unexpressed emotions with unsaid words.
