China is investing $1 billion in approximately 8,500 robots for its national power grid. These machines, including robot dogs and those with robotic arms, will enhance inspection and maintenance in challenging environments. This move aims to boost efficiency, safety, and reliability in electricity delivery, while also advancing China's AI and robotics ambitions.

A man was crushed to death by a robot in South Korea after the machine apparently failed to differentiate him from the boxes of produce it was handling, the Yonhap news agency reported Wednesday. The industrial robot, which was lifting boxes filled with bell peppers and placing them on a pallet, appears to have malfunctioned and identified the man as a box, Yonhap reported citing the police. The man was transferred to the hospital but died later, according to a report.

Even as sewer deaths continue to bring shame to the capital, Delhi government is now toying with the idea of deploying robots in all 11 districts to mechanise cleaning of drains in narrow lanes. Earlier this year, the government brought in 200 sewer cleaning machines in a bid to end the practice of manually cleaning. However, these machines were unable to enter the narrow lanes, particularly in unauthorised colonies.
