After Enforcement Directorate's money laundering case in the Chhattisgarh liquor 'scam' was quashed by Supreme Court earlier this week, the agency has registered a fresh investigation under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act against several accused, including former IAS officer Anil Tuteja and his son. ED's fresh case is based on another FIR filed by Chhattisgarh Police on Jan 17.

Chhattisgarh's Anti-Corruption Bureau and Economic Offences Wing conducted raids at 13 locations, investigating a multi-crore liquor scam. The operation targeted individuals and properties linked to alleged irregularities, including former Excise Minister Kawasi Lakhma. Authorities seized documents, electronic devices, bank details, and cash, while the Enforcement Directorate also investigates the scam, alleging a loss of over Rs 2,000 crore.

The excise official was arrested in Mumbai and brought to the state capital. He was produced before special PMLA court judge Ajay Singh Rajput, who granted his three-day remand to the central agency for further interrogation.
