Ruben Trumpelmann to Monank Patel, A perfect straight drive, but Monank finds the stumps at the other end. Full-pitched delivery on middle, shaping in, Monank Patel gets a big stride in and smashes the ball back into the stumps at the non-striker's end.
Ruben Trumpelmann to Monank Patel, WIDE! A false start from Ruben Trumpelmann. Lands it full on leg and gets the ball to swing down the leg side. Monank Patel misses the flick and there's a slight appeal from the keeper, probably hoping to save the wide.
Let's play! The national anthems have been sung and we are ready for the game to begin. Some last-minute words for Namibia, before they spread out to the middle. Out walk the two openers for the USA - Monank Patel and Shayan Jahangir. It will be Ruben Trumpelmann to start things off, to Monank. Can get shape back into the right hander. Here we go!
National anthems - The match officials and the two teams walk out to the middle for the national anthems. It will be Namibia's first, followed by that of USA's.
PITCH REPORT - Alan Wilkins is near the pitch. He starts by saying that it is a lovely afternoon, with a maximum temperature of 30 degrees Celsius and there's a bit of breeze around as well. Further mentions about the dimensions and says that it is a 76-meter hit down the ground. Adds that there is a bit of bias on either side of the square as well, with one side being 63 meters and the other being 70 meters. Former England cricketer, Nick Knight joins him and says that the pitch is better for batting than bowling. Mentions that the pitch block is made up of all sorts of different soils and today the strip being used is made up of red soil, which means there will be something in it for the bowlers and there will be good carry as well. Reckons that the quicker bowlers will be able to mix up their lengths as well but will have to be wary about the shorter boundary on one side.
Would have also liked to bat first - The captain of Namibia, GERHARD ERASMUS, says that he would have also liked to bat first. But does not think that it will be too much of a concern to bat second on this wicket. Is eager for the side to get its straps on and bat better in this game. On the team changes for this clash, Erasmus informs that they have made two changes - Dylan Leicher comes in for Malan Kruger while Willem Myburgh is in because Ben Shikongo is injured. On being asked to detail about Leicher's inclusion, Gerhard calls it a tactical decision, aiming to make the side a bit more compact from every department and hopes that it brings good luck for the team.
Much better pitch today - The skipper of USA, MONANK PATEL, says that this is a different pitch as compared to the one on which they played against the Netherlands. Details that this one is a red-soil deck. Goes onto say that the USA did really well against the Dutch, especially with the bat and is looking to repeat it today. On the changes to the team, Monank informs that Saurabh Netravalkar comes in place of Nosthush Kenjige. Adds that there was an injury last time around while there is some sickness going around in the camp at the moment. On the pitch, Patel feels that this looks to be a better pitch than what they played against the Netherlands. The captain goes onto add that the one which featured the Dutch as their opposition had a surface that was a mixture of red and black soil. Calls this a purely red-soil deck, so expects good even bounce and also some turn later on.
