PBKS vs DC Highlights, IPL 2025: Delhi Capitals win by six wickets

PBKS vs DC Live Score, IPL 2025: Delhi Capitals secured a six-wicket victory against Punjab Kings in their final IPL match at Jaipur on Saturday, successfully chasing down a target of 207 runs in 19.3 overs. Young Sameer Rizvi shone with an unbeaten 58 off 25 balls, while Karun Nair, recently recalled to the Indian Test team, contributed 44 runs in the winning effort.

Rizvi's maiden half-century included five sixes and three fours, displaying exceptional batting prowess under pressure. Nair's 27-ball innings featured two sixes and five fours, proving crucial in the run chase.

The chase began positively with KL Rahul, serving as impact substitute, scoring 35 off 21 balls, and stand-in captain Faf du Plessis contributing 23 off 15 balls. They established a quick 55-run partnership in under six overs.

Rahul's innings included impressive shots, notably a cover-point boundary off Azmatullah Omarzai and a straight six against Harpreet Brar. However, he fell to Marco Jansen's slow off-cutter, caught by Shashank Singh.

Nair, making his return to the Indian Test squad after eight years, started confidently with a six over fine leg off Jansen. Du Plessis's innings ended with a soft dismissal, caught by Priyansh Arya at backward point.

In the first innings, Punjab Kings posted 206 for eight, powered by Marcus Stoinis's unbeaten 44 off 16 balls and Shreyas Iyer's 53 off 34 deliveries. Stoinis's explosive innings included four sixes and three fours.

Delhi Capitals, bowling first, found early success when Mustafizur Rahman dismissed Priyansh Arya for 6. The Bangladesh seamer finished with figures of 3/33.

Josh Inglis and Prabhsimran Singh provided early momentum for Punjab Kings before leg-spinner Vipraj Nigam claimed two crucial wickets. Nigam, showing promise for future T20 World Cup consideration, maintained good control throughout his spell.

Shreyas Iyer's innings featured aggressive batting, including a six over deep midwicket off Kuldeep Yadav. His stay ended when he hit straight to Mohit Sharma off Kuldeep's bowling.

The match saw momentum shifts, with Mukesh Kumar conceding 25 runs in one over. Stoinis capitalized on a dropped catch to score 22 runs off Mohit Sharma's over, helping Punjab Kings post a challenging total.

Leg-spinner Praveen Dubey contributed by dismissing Sediqullah Atal for 22 off 16 balls, though he later conceded four consecutive boundaries to Nair as Delhi reached 111 for three in the 11th over.

Despite losing Nair at a crucial stage to Brar's bowling, Rizvi's mature batting ensured Delhi Capitals finished their IPL campaign on a winning note. The chase demonstrated Delhi's batting depth and ability to handle pressure situations effectively.

The match featured strong performances from both teams' bowlers, with Mustafizur Rahman's strategic angle bowling and Vipraj Nigam's controlled leg-spin standing out. However, the batsmen dominated the contest, with both sides displaying aggressive intent throughout.

STRATEGIC TIMEOUT. 5 overs left. Delhi Capitals have done well post the Powerplay, conceding 82/2 in the middle overs (7-15). Given the pitch and the outfield, that still looks okay. 200 seems to be on the cards but as Punjab found out last time, they might need 220 to be safe. Here's Mustafizur Rahman. 2-0-19-1 so far.

Is that a boundary saved? Or not? Karun Nair himself has signalled a six but the umpires want an official confirmation. Yes, the first replay seems to indicate that when the catch was taken, Nair's left foot was on the ropes. Interesting. Clean save, says the third umpire!

Mohit Sharma to Shashank Singh, GREAT SAVE! Terrific attempt by Karun Nair but things are not going DC's way. A length ball, outside off, Shashank Singh went for the pull but got it from the top portion of the bat. The ball went towards long on where Nair was stationed. He leapt and took the catch, but then, on realizing that the momentum was taking him beyond the ropes, looked to push the ball back into play. He did so, but one felt that he landed on the skirtings while trying to push the ball away. In fact, he immediately signalled six himself. The umpires though, wanted official confirmation and referred it upstairs. Now, the first replay seemed to indicate that Karun landed on the ropes before pushing the ball away. However, the third umpire, after multiple views, feels that he landed on the ground, inside the boundary, while pushing the ball away. Debatable. Single in the end!

Mohit Sharma to Shreyas Iyer, TOP EDGE NOW, DROPPED! A good short ball by Mohit, around off, once again, Iyer goes for the pull. He is done in by the extra bounce and gets a fat top edge. Kuldeep Yadav runs back to his left from short fine leg and dives full stretch, getting fingertips onto the ball but not holding onto the catch. In hindsight, one believes that Sediqullah Atal coming in from deep square leg would have had a better chance at taking that catch. Single taken.

Mohit Sharma to Shreyas Iyer, CAUGHT BEHIND DISMISSAL OVERTURNED! It was a good short ball, around middle and Shreyas instinctively went for the hook. The ball deviated away and keeper Tristan Stubbs caught it. Appealed and the umpire gave his nod by raising his finger. But Shreyas Iyer reviewed it within a couple of seconds. There seemed to be a deflection, but my eyesight is not the greatest. Here comes UltraEdge. Absolutely nothing when ball goes past bat and glove! The third umpire is now checking for the wide ball. Was this above the head or way too far down the leg side? It is over the head and the wicket call is eventually overturned to a WIDE.

Mukesh Kumar to Nehal Wadhera, OUT! CAUGHT! The bowling change works and the in-form Wadhera is forced to depart! This is the result of some really good bowling in the last few overs by Delhi Capitals. A slower ball, on a length outside off, Nehal Wadhera looks to go big down the ground but the lack of pace means that he has played that way too early. His bottom hand comes off the bat and the ball goes very high in the air, but only as far as mid on. Faf du Plessis gets underneath it, from mid off, one supposes and takes the catch. The 41-run stand has been broken and Wadhera departs for 16 (16). Punjab Kings are 118/4 after 12.3 overs.

IPL Points Table | IPL Schedule

With 17 points from 12 matches, Punjab has already secured a playoff spot with two games to spare, while Delhi was eliminated following their recent defeat to Mumbai Indians.

The overseas players—Marcus Stoinis, Josh Inglis, Aaron Hardie, and Kyle Jamieson—have rejoined Punjab after a week-long suspension due to the India-Pakistan military conflict. All four are available for selection.

This conflict caused the May 8 match between these teams in Dharamsala to be abandoned after 10.1 overs due to a blackout.

Punjab has only made two playoff appearances in the league’s 18-year history, with their best showing in 2014 when they topped the table and finished as runners-up.

Captain Shreyas Iyer has made history as the first to lead three different franchises to the IPL playoffs. He previously guided Delhi Capitals to the postseason in 2019 and 2020, including their only final, and led Kolkata Knight Riders last year.

Iyer is the season's second-highest run-scorer with 435 runs in 12 matches. The team's strong performances have also come from Prabhsimran Singh (458 runs), Priyansh Arya (356 runs), Arshdeep Singh (11 wickets), and Yuzvendra Chahal (13 wickets).

Delhi Capitals' season has struggled due to a lack of big early runs and the absence of key pacer Mitchell Starc in the final stages. They aim to finish on a positive note against the in-form Punjab Kings.
