... THE RUN CHASE ...
When you concede over 400 runs, there’s little to highlight about the bowling performance. Sloppy fielding, missed catches, and far too many extras only added to Ireland’s woes. While the pitch heavily favored the batters, the Irish bowlers struggled to find consistent lines and lengths, making life easier for the opposition. Despite the challenges, Orla Prendergast managed to grab a couple of wickets, while Arlene Kelly, Freya Sargent, and Georgina Dempsey picked up one each. The only silver lining was their slight recovery in the death overs. Now, their batters face an uphill battle to even come close to this daunting target. Stay tuned as we bring you the second chapter!
The player of the moment, Pratika Rawal is up for a quick chat. She says that she was going ball by ball and was not thinking much about how many runs to score. Adds that she was a bit slow after getting to the 70s and needs to work on that, but she covered up well after reaching the hundred. Mentions that it is a treat to watch Smriti Mandhana bat and she likes to take a backseat when Smriti hits them out of the park. Says that they wanted to cross 400 and are happy that they touched 430 in the end. Further adds that there is no magic and she and Smriti are very comfortable with each other; they don't think about records and play the ball on its merit, which makes the difference.
India Women thought Smriti Mandhana’s wicket would bring relief, but what followed was pure carnage! Richa Ghosh, promoted up the order, unleashed a flurry of strokes, while young Pratika Rawal stole the spotlight with a sensational maiden ODI century. Rawal’s blistering 154 off 129 balls was a masterclass of poise and power, taking India Women to the brink of 400. Tejal Hasabnis and Harleen Deol, along with a few others added the finishing touches, ensuring a historic total that left fans in absolute awe!
India Women, led by a fiery Smriti Mandhana and Pratika Rawal, put on a batting masterclass after opting to bat on a belter of a pitch. The openers unleashed carnage, smashing 90 runs in the Powerplay - the highest of the series and notched their fourth 100-run stand in the last six innings. Skipper Mandhana was unstoppable, blasting the fastest ODI century for India Women in just 70 balls, and her 135 off 80 balls included a record-breaking seven sixes. The pair added a staggering 233-run partnership, rewriting records and leaving the Irish bowlers in tatters.

It was a breathtaking batting performance from the hosts.
