IND vs ZIM Highlights, 3rd T20I: All-round India beat Zimbabwe by 23 runs to go 2-1 up in series

Skipper Shubman Gill struck 66, while off-spinner Washington Sundar returned with 3/15 as India defeated Zimbabwe by 23 runs in the third T20I to take a 2-1 lead in five-match series in Harare on Wednesday.

Electing to bat, India scored 182/4 with Gill (66, 49b, 7x4, 3x6) and Ruturaj Gaikwad (49, 28b, 4x4, 3x6) leading the way with contrasting knocks.

For Zimbabwe, pacer Blessing Muzarabani (2/25) was the best bowler.

In reply, Zimbabwe made a late resurgence with Dion Myers' maiden T20I fifty in the company of Wellington Masakadza but only to fall short and were restricted for 159/6.

The fourth T20I of the series is slated on Saturday.

Feels amazing and everytime for the country, it feels amazing. It was definietely a better wicket, in the first two games there was more for the bowlers compared to this game, our batters batted well. It did put a lot of pressure on us and we wanted to execute our plays the best we can to restrict them. Hopefully, we get to see a lot of places in Zimbabwe and explore more, hopefully we can seal the series on Saturday.

Definitely very good, it was a crucial game for us, the way we started with the bat and ball was good. The wicket was a bit double-paced, the odd ball was gripping and it was not hit the length balls. We know that if there is something in the wicket, it will be more with the new ball, as the ball gets old it's a bit easier to score. Everyone is contributing and that's a good sign.

I think it's the fielding again, we are proud of our fielding but the wheels came off today, we gave away 20 extra runs and we lost by 23 runs. We still have problems at the top but I have utmost faith in them that they will come good some time. We have tried 15 different partners in the last year or so, club has revived, it's time that our players including myself take up the responsibility. You cannot fix a problem by creating another problem, we have picked 3 openers for a reason. The openers that have been picked up should be given a run. (On Muzarabani) We have to stop talking about him because he has been outstanding, sometimes the rewards don't come but in the long run the rewards do come.

Happy with my performance, I always try to have an impact for the team. I have no preference on where to ball, I am ready to bowl at any phase. Shubman is a bowler’s captain, gives us the freedom to set our fields and backs our plans. He is responsible for probably getting me 1-2 wickets today. (On Bishnoi) He is a good fielder, always takes catches like these, you would have seen it in the IPL as well. He always wants to take such extraordinary catches.

The hosts fall short by 23 runs in chase of 183. A clinical show from India in the third game in Harare, first from the bat and then from the bowlers. After Shubman Gill and Ruturaj Gaikwad lifted India to 182, bowlers led by Washington Sundar put up a solid show to keep Zimbabwe to 159 for six. Sundar picked up three wickets while Avesh Khan bagged a couple. Khaleel Ahmed also had a wicket to his name.
