India vs New Zealand Highlights, U19 World Cup 2026: India beat New Zealand by seven wickets

India vs New Zealand Live Score, U19 World Cup 2026: India continued their impressive run in the Under-19 World Cup with a commanding seven-wicket victory over New Zealand via the DLS method on Saturday. The match was reduced to 37 overs per side due to rain, but India dominated both with the ball and the bat to seal their third consecutive win and remain unbeaten.

After winning the toss, India chose to bowl in damp conditions and their decision paid off immediately.

The bowlers struck early and never allowed New Zealand to recover. RS Ambrish led the attack with excellent figures of 8-1-29-4, while Henil Patel provided strong support with 3 for 23. New Zealand were quickly reduced to 69 for 7, struggling to cope with India’s disciplined bowling.

Snehith Reddy was the only top-order batter to reach double figures with 10. The lower order tried to steady the innings, with Callum Samson scoring 37, Selwin Sanjay adding 28 and Jacob Cotter making 23. However, New Zealand were bowled out for 135 in 36.2 overs, with Khilan Patel, Mohamed Enaan and Kanishk Chouhan also picking up wickets.

Chasing a revised target of 130, India lost Aaron George early but quickly took control through a fluent 76-run partnership between skipper Ayush Mhatre and Vaibhav Sooryavanshi. Sooryavanshi struck a brisk 40 off 23 balls, while Mhatre played a stunning knock of 53 off just 27 deliveries, hitting six sixes.

After their dismissals, Vihaan Malhotra and Vedant Trivedi calmly guided India to 130 for 3 in 13.3 overs, sealing a comprehensive win and the top spot in Group B.

IND U19 vs NZ U19 Live Score: 'Getting the opportunity to represent New Zealand has been so good'
I've been lucky to get some experience with Otago down south in New Zealand.

The biggest thing is to see how professionals go through with the basics of the game and the preparations. I think it was mainly down to execution, the plan was good, we missed at certain times, maybe the first match nerves (on the extras against USA).

The spirits have been high regardless of the weather, it should be a great day today. Getting the opportunity to represent New Zealand has been so good.

IND U19 vs NZ U19 Live Score: India are already in SUPER SIX
India have already secured a place in the Super Six, but today’s contest carries added significance, with the winner set to carry crucial points from a fellow qualifier into the next stage.

While India have emerged victorious in both their matches so far, they are yet to put together a complete performance.

A modest chase against the USA saw their top order falter, and against Bangladesh they were pushed to the edge before an outstanding effort from the spinners turned the game in their favour.

New Zealand, meanwhile, are still waiting for a full game in the tournament, with both of their fixtures so far abandoned at different stages due to rain.

They will be eager to finally get some uninterrupted cricket under their belt. Weather, however, remains a concern, with rain continuing to loom over Bulawayo and showers forecast once again.

With this being the final match of the group stage, all eyes will be on how it unfolds. The toss and team line-ups are coming up shortly.

IND U19 vs NZ U19 Live Score: No handshake
India's captain Ayush Mhatre and Bangladesh's vice-captain Zawad Abrar declined the usual handshake at the toss, signalling of the ongoing tension between the neighbouring countries.

During the toss, delayed by more than 15 minutes due to drizzle, neither India's captain Mhatre nor Bangladesh's vice-captain Abrar, who walked out for the toss, initiated the traditional exchange of pleasantries. After Bangladesh won the toss and opted to bowl first against India, both captains just conducted their interviews and then went to their dressing rooms.

This stems from the no-handshake protocol adopted by the Indian men's team during the Men's Asia Cup in September 2025. In all three matches of the tournament, the Indian team did not shake hands with the Pakistan players. Additionally, they refused to accept the trophy from Asian Cricket Council (ACC) President Mohsin Naqvi, who is also Pakistan's Interior Minister.

Later, in the ICC Women’s ODI World Cup match, India captain Harmanpreet Kaur upheld the 'no handshake' policy. Moreover, during last month's U19 Asia Cup, India maintained a 'no handshake' policy during their group-stage fixture against arch-rivals Pakistan.

Relations between India and Bangladesh have also been deteriorating on multiple fronts in recent times due to violence following the death of a Bangladeshi student leader and the lynching of a Hindu man. This led to turbulence within the BCCI and the BCB when the IPL team Kolkata Knight Riders released Bangladesh's premier bowler, Mustafizur Rehman, from its squad, following a directive from the Indian governing board.

After the pacer's release, the Bangladesh Cricket Board initially refused to issue a no-objection certificate for Mustafizur to play in the IPL. As a result of the BCCI's decision, the BCB wrote to the ICC requesting that their T20 World Cup matches be moved to Sri Lanka, citing security concerns amid growing tensions between the two neighbouring nations.

IND U19 vs NZ U19 Live Score: Mhatre on Sooryavanshi
India’s U-19 captain Ayush Mhatre commended his team’s star hitter Vaibhav Sooryavanshi for demonstrating professionalism, highlighting how he managed the high-pressure situation with confidence. The 14-year-old played a vital role for India by scoring 72 off 67, helping his side beat Bangladesh at the ICC Under-19 Men's Cricket World Cup on Saturday.

The win helped India continue their undefeated streak at the tournament and assert their dominance in Group B. At just 14 years old, Sooryavanshi has already accumulated significant milestones in his young career and has done incredibly well with the bat of late.

“(Sooryavanshi) showed the maturity that he's got and just batted really brilliant. He showed patience also; the team needed him to stay there, so he stayed in. It was initially tough conditions because there was some stickiness in the wicket and the ball was coming a little bit (on the) slower side, back of the length, so there was some difficulty. But the way that (Abhigyan Kundu and Sooryavanshi) batted, and (later in) the innings, (Kanishk Chouhan) batted well,” Mhatre was quoted as saying by ICC.

India scored 238 runs batting first, thanks to three significant contributions. Despite rain affecting Bangladesh's chase, leading to the DLS method and a revised target of 165 from 29 overs, India managed to secure an 18-run win. Bangladesh were all out for 146 in 28.3 overs.

Kundu anchored India's batting innings with a steady 80 off 112 balls, complementing Vaibhav's more aggressive style. The two constructed a 62-run partnership for the fourth wicket, establishing a solid platform, while Chouhan's quick 28 off 26 balls contributed to the finishing efforts in their 50-over match.

“(Kundu) is batting really well in this tournament, and is in form also, so it's really nice for us that he's batting really brilliant and scoring some runs for our team. It really was a terrific victory from our boys, it was really big. We just play our game, we're not thinking much (about that game yet), just (about) playing our cricket,” Mhatre stated.

Earlier, on the opening day of the tournament, India defeated the USA by six wickets (via DLS method) to kick off the tournament in style. After their 18-run victory against Bangladesh, the Men in Blue have a week-long break as they’re scheduled to play New Zealand in their final group stage game only on Friday, January 24, before the super six stage begins.

IND U19 vs NZ U19 Live Score: Hello and welcome!
Hello and welcome to the Live coverage of U19 World Cup match between India and New Zealand at the Queens Sports Club in Bulawayo.

Ayush Mhatre-led India registered a thrilling 18-run win over Bangladesh after the second innings was reduced to 29 overs due to rain in the seventh match of the ongoing ICC U19 World Cup 2026 on Saturday.

With this victory, India notched up their second consecutive win in the tournament. Earlier, the Mhatre-led side had defeated the USA in their opening fixture.

For his superb bowling performance, India’s Vihaan Malhotra was named Player of the Match.

Bangladesh began their chase on a poor note, losing opener Zawad Abrar for just five runs in the very first over. Abrar was dismissed by Deepesh Devendran.

MD Rifat Beg and Md Azizul Hakim Tamim then stabilised the innings as Bangladesh reached 30/1 in four overs. At the end of 10 overs, the score read 54/1.

On the fifth ball of the 12th over, Kanishk Chouhan removed Rifat Beg for a run-a-ball 37, which included four boundaries and a six. Rain interrupted play during the 18th over, and the match was reduced to a 29-over contest, with Bangladesh set a revised target of 165 via the DLS method.

After the resumption, Bangladesh crossed the 100-run mark in the 20th over. Vihaan Malhotra struck again, dismissing Kalam Siddiki Aleen for 15 on the second ball of the 22nd over.

Azizul Hakim Tamim brought up his fifty off 70 deliveries on the first ball of the 24th over. However, Malhotra removed Sheikh Paevez Jibon for seven on the fifth delivery of the same over, leaving Bangladesh at 125/4.

Khilan Patel then claimed the key wicket of Tamim for 51 in the very next over. Following his dismissal, Bangladesh collapsed, losing Samiun Basir Ratul (2), Farid Hasan Faysal (1), Al Fahad (0) and Md Rizan Hossan (15) in quick succession to slump to 146/9 in 28 overs.

Henil Patel dismissed the final batter, Iqbal Hossain Emon (2), as India sealed a thrilling 18-run victory in the rain-affected encounter.

Bangladesh were bowled out for 146 in 28.3 overs. For India, Vihaan Malhotra produced magical figures of 4/14 in four overs. Khilan Patel picked up two wickets, while Kanishk Chouhan, Henil Patel and Deepesh Devendran claimed one wicket each.

Earlier, half-centuries from opener Vaibhav Suryavanshi and Abhinav Kundu helped India post a competitive total of 238 against Bangladesh.

After Bangladesh won the toss and opted to field, a controversial moment unfolded when Indian captain Ayush Mhatre and Bangladesh vice-captain Zawad Abrar avoided the customary handshake, drawing attention amid the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup 2026 issues between the BCCI and BCB.

India suffered early setbacks, losing captain Mhatre for six and Vedant Trivedi for a golden duck in the third over bowled by Al Fahad. In the eighth over, Suryavanshi smashed 15 runs off Iqbal Hossain Emon as India reached 42/2.

The 14-year-old Suryavanshi brought up his fifty in just 30 deliveries during the 13th over. At 14 years and 296 days, he also became the youngest player to score a fifty-plus total at a Men’s U19 World Cup.

India reached 94/3 at the end of 20 overs. On the second ball of the 27th over, Iqbal Hossain Emon broke the crucial 62-run stand between Suryavanshi and Abhinav Kundu.

Iqbal dismissed Suryavanshi for 72 off 67 deliveries, an innings that included six fours and three sixes. The knock also made him the seventh Indian batter to score 1,000 or more runs in Youth ODIs.

India continued to lose wickets as Iqbal removed Harvansh Pangalia for two in the 29th over, leaving India struggling at 123/5.

Kundu and Kanishk Chouhan then steadied the innings, taking India to 152/5 by the end of the 33rd over. However, Azizul Hakim Tamim broke their 54-run partnership by dismissing Chouhan for 28 off 26 balls, including four boundaries, in the 36th over.

Kundu brought up his fifty in 82 deliveries as India reached 184/6 in 37 overs. Rain again interrupted play after the 39th over, eventually reducing the match to 49 overs per side.

Following the resumption, Sheikh Paevez Jibon dismissed RS Ambrish for five as India crawled to 194/7 in 40 overs.

Al Fahad ended Kundu’s resistance on the final ball of the 47th over. The batter played a fighting knock of 80 off 112 deliveries, which included four boundaries and three sixes.

India were eventually bowled out for 238 in 48.4 overs, with Al Fahad claiming a superb five-wicket haul. He finished with figures of 5/38 in 9.2 overs.

India vs New Zealand Live Score, U19 World Cup 2026: India extended their unbeaten run in the Under-19 World Cup with a dominant seven-wicket DLS win over New Zealand.

In a rain-shortened 37-over match, India’s bowlers set the tone early. RS Ambrish starred with 4 for 29, while Henil Patel claimed 3 for 23 as New Zealand were bowled out for 135.

Only Callum Samson (37), Selwin Sanjay (28) and Jacob Cotter (23) offered resistance. Chasing a revised target of 130, India lost an early wicket but skipper Ayush Mhatre smashed 53 off 27 balls.

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi added a quick 40 as India cruised to 130 for 3 in 13.3 overs to top Group B.
