Thane - A City with Happy Streets

promoted

A city's prosperity in the long run does not depend upon the bird's eye view, it depends upon how it looks, feels, acts, develops and evolves from its streets. Read ahead to know why Thane is a city with happy streets.

Thane has a rich history, thriving present and a prosperous future. From a land that was once considered as Mumbai's poor cousin, the black sheep of the family has carved a niche for itself to become a prime locality. A locality is defined by its streets, as these streets reflect the ideology, perception and way forward of the citizens inhabiting them. Thane's most popular streets form a beautiful collage that represents its laurels and ambitions, and they are:

Ram Maruti Road

Thane is a predominantly Maharashtrian city and one can get acquainted with its culture by visiting the Ram Maruti Road. This road is the epicenter of festivities and lights up like a firecracker during prominent festivals. Here, prominent festivals like Diwali, Ganesh Chaturthi and Gudi Padwa are celebrated with great excitement by young and old.

Like every other growing city, Thane is also turning into a metropolitan with people having sufficient disposable income to enjoy a better standard of living. From branded stores to local shops, this road is brimming with outlets to ensure the shopaholic in you is satisfied. If you are a foodie, then rejoice, as Ram Maruti Road hosts some of the best eateries in the city. Treat your taste buds with street food or spend a good time with friends over a cup of coffee, Ram Maruti Road is the destination to be.

"Ram Maruti Road is a popular meeting point for Thanekar's. My father meets his friends here and so do I. Fortunately, our spots are different. In fact, this road is the reason for many love stories as well, where the couple first met here and then went on to live together happily ever after," said Aditya Jalgaonkar, a marketing professional.

Cadbury Junction

Cadbury junction is located near Shahid Mangal Pandey Road and Eastern Express Highway. This junction is the lifeline of Thanekars as far as connectivity is concerned. Apart from internal connectivity, Cadbury Junction connects Thane to Mumbai's chief locations. Busses run frequently from this junction to Borivali, Bandra and Vashi as well.

"My college is located in Powai, and I catch a bus daily from Cadbury Junction to reach there. This is definitely among Thane's busiest streets. Two of Thane's favorite malls Korum and Viviana are a stone's throw away from this junction," said Priti Panchal, a student residing nearby.

Upvan Lake Road

Upvan Lake Road engulfs the Upvan lake like a friendly arm over your shoulder. It is situated in the Pokhran-II area, has the majestic Yeoor hills as company and is Thane's premier recreational spot. It is one of Thane's biggest lakes and home to the Upvan Arts Festival that has been a hit amongst Thanekars. This annual extravaganza is held before monsoons and is intended to provide a platform for art and culture-based events.

"We have been coming here since our college days and it is amazing to see this place remain appealing even today. Right from the Ganesh temple, the calm lake and the enormous Yeoor backdrop, these surroundings have a timeless charm about it," said Mini Pawar while taking a stroll with her hubby at Upvan Lake.

Ghodbunder Road

Home to several commercial parks, Ghodbunder Road has a remarkable growth story. From a place in ruins and surrounded by a jungle, Ghodbunder Road has become a real estate magnet in Thane. Many prominent builders have already built their projects around this arterial road.

Speaking about their new project, Orovia at Ghodbunder Road, Vijay Group and Suraksha Realty's representative said, "Orovio is offering artful residences to those who seek to lead a comfortable lifestyle. With Orovia, we have created a cocoon of 10 towers of 27 floors each, featuring spacious 1BHK, luxurious 2BHK and Smart 3BHK apartments. Under this cocoon, you will be served with all modern luxuries required. All this, without disconnecting you from the outside world.

We chose Ghodbunder Road for its connectivity to other parts of the city, schools, colleges and offices. Be it location, amenities, better standard of living or property appreciation, Orovia is designed to meet all your requirements."

Happy Streets Powered By Vijay Group and Suraksha Realty

On April 12th, 2015, the usually silent mornings of Gladys Alvares Road witnessed something unusual. 15,000 Thanekars marked their attendance at 7:00 am on a Sunday.

The next Sunday, 19th April, witnessed a better response, as 20,000 people came out on the street. This was not a parade against a social issue nor was it a political rally. Citizens of Thane stepped out on Sunday mornings to have a good time on their Happy Street.

"It's a great initiative, especially as it is conceptualized to help residents get healthy and fit," said Param Bir Sing, Police Commissioner, Thane. The Happy Streets movement started in Ciclovia in Bogota, Columbia. Indian's have adopted this concept and made it their own. Successful events at Mumbai, Pune and Hyderabad had shown people's eagerness to attend an event on vehicle-free zones that was refreshing and fitness-oriented.

Happy Streets is an initiative that establishes the fact that the streets belong to not just motorists but people as well. Here, cars and motor bikes give way to people of all ages, allowing them to express themselves. The streets are equal and when people step out to have fun on them, they become Happy Streets.

This event is powered by Vijay Group and Suraksha Realty who have been redefining Thane's skyline for years. Vijay Group has been instrumental in uplifting Thane's lifestyle for the past three decades with their real estate projects catering to mid and luxury segment property buyers.

With Thanekars' overwhelming response to Happy Streets' Thane edition, this event is scheduled to go on for the next six months. Wake up to life and attend Happy Streets.
