It took 153 days for the district to register 10,000 cases of novel coronavirus whereas 20,000 recorded in just last 19 days. 1,348 persons were tested positive on Saturday taking the total number of cases in the district to 30,885. The district had recorded 10,681 cases on August 10 with first case registered on March 11. 20,271 cases were on August 20.

"All MDs have been asked to look into SOP prepared by MOHUA earlier in view of the current realities. All suggestions will be considered in the VC Meeting and accordingly SOP will be finalised," the ministry said.

Maharashtra on Saturday reported a single-day highest spike of 16,867 coronavirus cases which pushed its case tally to 7,64,281, the state health department said. With 328 new fatalities, the death toll due to the pandemic reached 24,103, it said in a release. The earlier highest one-day increase in number of patients was 14,888 on August 26.

The total number of positive cases now stands at 7,64,281 including 1,85,131 active cases, 5,54,711 recoveries and 24,103 deaths.
