Ramesh of Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam won the Srirangam constituency with a margin of 33590 votes. He garnered 103235 votes, while Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam candidate S. Durairaj came second with 69645 votes.Srirangam Assembly constituency, located in Tiruchirappalli district of Tamil Nadu, forms part of the Tiruchirappalli Lok Sabha constituency. According to the 2011 Census estimates, Scheduled Castes account for 17.79 per cent of the population, while Scheduled Tribes constitute around 0.21 per cent.For the 2026 elections, the participating candidates are S. Durairaj (DMK), R. Manoharan (AIADMK+), Dharmaraj M.

(NTK), and S. Ramesh (TVK).In the 2021 Assembly elections, the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) won the seat with M Palaniyandi securing 113,904 votes, or 47.42 per cent of the vote share. He defeated the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) candidate Kupa Krishnan, who received 93,989 votes, by a margin of 19,915 votes.Historically, Srirangam is a high-profile constituency. J Jayalalithaa, leader of the AIADMK, won the seat in 2011 and became the CM. Following her disqualification, a 2015 by-election was won by AIADMK’s S. Valarmathi. The AIADMK retained the seat in 2016, but the DMK captured it in 2021.The constituency is currently represented in the State Assembly by M. Palaniyandi of the DMK, while the Tiruchirappalli Lok Sabha constituency is represented by Durai Vaiko of the MDMK.
