No-confidence motion: India stands with Manipur, it will see peace & development again, says PM Modi in LS

Lok Sabha proceedings were on Thursday adjourned till 12 noon following opposition protests over the Manipur issue.Soon after obituary reference to five former members of the House, opposition members were on their feet raising the Manipur issue.Speaker Om Birla ignored them and started the Question Hour, the schedule business of the House.The opposition MPs raised slogans against the government and displayed placards that read “India is with Manipur”.

PM Modi is expected to speak today at 4 pm on No Confidence Motion.

Congress MP Manish Tewari on Thursday gave an adjournment motion notice in the Lok Sabha to discuss the border situation with China.In his letter to the Secretary-General, Lok Sabha, Manish Tewari said, "I hereby give notice of my intention to ask for leave to move a motion for the adjournment of the business of the house for the purpose of discussing a definite matter of urgent importance, namely: That this House do suspend Zero Hour and relevant rules relating to Question Hour and other businesses of the day to have a discussion on the border situation with China."He further urged the Government to inform the House of the situation at the border with China adding that reports are coming out from Chushul, Eastern Ladakh that China's People Liberation Army (PLA) has pitched four tents in a "buffer zone" and their forces are demanding a 15-20 km Buffer Zone inside Indian territory.

Rajya Sabha MP Kapil Sibal on Thursday hit back at Home Minister Amit Shah for his remarks targeting the opposition alliance, saying instead of making "wild allegations" against the INDIA bloc should he not concentrate on governance in places such as Manipur and Haryana.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to address the Lok Sabha on Thursday in response to the Opposition's no-confidence motion against the NDA government.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh confirming the PM's presence at the Parliament on Wednesday, said, “The PM will be present in the House on Thursday to reply to the no-confidence motion."

Meanwhile, Union Home Minister Amit Shah also confirmed that the Prime Minister will be present in the House on Thursday to reply to the no-confidence motion.

In a no-holds-barred attack on the Centre over its handling of the Manipur situation, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday likened Prime Minister Narendra Modi to 'Ravan', claiming that just as the hydra-headed demon king in the epic Ramayana listened only to "Meghnad' and Kumbhakarna", PM Modi listens only to Union Home Minister Amit Shah and industrialist Gautam Adani.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will mark his presence in the Lok Sabha on August 10 to reply to the no-confidence motion moved by the Opposition against the NDA government. The opposition moved a no-confidence motion against the Modi government on July 26 which was taken up by Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla.

The stage is all set for India to get a privacy law for protecting online data of citizens, with the Rajya Sabha approving the Digital Personal Data Protection (DPDP) Bill on Wednesday. This happens after six years of the Supreme Court declaring 'Right to Privacy' as a fundamental right. The bill was approved by the Lok Sabha on Monday. Now it needs the President's assent to become a law.
