CHENNAI: VCK on Monday made a fresh demand for Rajya Sabha seat from
DMK. VCK's high level committee chaired by party president Thol Thirumavalavan also passed a resolution seeking double digit seats for the upcoming assembly election.
The meeting was convened in Chennai in the backdrop of intense negotations in the DMK front for seats. Eight resolutions were passed in the meeting including the two demanding double digit seats and a Rajya Sabha seat.
"VCK has been contributing significantly to the DMK-led Secular Progressive Alliance since 2019. Hence, the party should seek double-digit seats that would suit its stature. The party should also get a Rajya Sabha seat in the next RS election to be held in 2028," the resolution stated.
In 2021, VCK contested in six seats and won four. This time, VCK has been asking for 10 seats in the DMK front.
The party has held only one round of talks with DMK so far.
