Director Aditya Dhar's 'Dhurandhar: The Revenge', starring Ranveer Singh in the lead, has broken several box office records on its way to the top. The film, on Tuesday, went on to cross the Rs 900 crore mark at the worldwide box office, helping the franchise hit a new high. By reaching a global total of Rs 919 crore in just six days, the sequel has now officially propelled the ‘Dhurandhar’ series past the Rs. 2,200 crore cumulative milestone, surpassing the Pushpa franchise to become the third highest-grossing Indian film franchise in cinematic history while eyeing the elite Rs. 1,000 crore club. This is the gross total of the film's India collections of Rs 687.43 crore and an overseas haul of Rs 231.57 crore. Meanwhile, the film's all-India net collections are still said to be around Rs 575.67 crore.

'Dhurandhar' hits Rs 2,000 crore mark

Tuesday's numbers, have put the film on track to register itself in the box office history books as one of the highest-grossing Indian film franchises of all time. The film's current haul, in addition to gross total collection of 'Dhurandhar' (2025), has now helped it overtake the Allu Arjun starrer 'Pushpa' to become the third biggest film franchise in India.

'Dhurandhar' becomes third highest grossing franchise

With this, the film has emerged as the third highest-grossing Indian film franchise, surpassing the earnings of 'Pushpa', estimated to be around Rs 2,002 crore. The film is now on its way to dethrone SS Rajamouli's 'Baahubali' franchise, starring Prabhas, with its total of Rs 2,462 crore, across three film releases - 'Baahubali: The Beginning' (2015), 'Baahubali 2: The Conclusion' (2017) and the 10th anniversary special, 'Baahubali: The Epic'. With an animated film 'Baahubali: The Eternal War', also in development, it remains to be seen if 'Dhurandhar' will be able to hold on to the second spot for long. In the first spot, is the YRF spy universe, comprising of a total of 6 films thus far, with an estimated total of Rs 3,195 crore. These include Salman Khan's 'Tiger', Hrithik Roshan's 'War' and Shah Rukh Khan's 'Pathaan' franchise. Alia Bhatt's 'Alpha' is also set to join the list when it releases later this year.

Although on a remarkable run, the Ranveer Singh-led film fell short of matching or breaking Allu Arjun's 'Pushpa 2' record to become the fastest Indian film to cross the Rs 1000 crore mark. That record continues to be held by 'Pushpa 2', which reportedly hit the milestone in just 6 days. 'Dhurandhar' will likely hit the mark on Day 7, as it ends its first extended weekend at the box office. 'Dhurandhar 2' still has a long way to go before it wraps up its theatrical run, thus keeping trade gurus hooked on the box office to see if the film can continue its epic run.

'Dhurandhar: The Revenge' also set a new benchmark for Hindi-language films with an overseas opening weekend of USD 22.8 million. The sequel, according to Variety, achieved the highest opening day for an Indian film without Gulf territories. It also scored the highest single day ever for an Indian film on Saturday with USD 6.2 million. In North America, the film collected an estimated USD 10 million over the weekend and a total of USD 14 million on its extended five-day weekend.
