Luka Doncic’s personal battle is getting new updates as he recently announced split from his ex-fiancée. Court filings reveal a dispute involving his former partner, Anamaria Goltes. The document is centered on where child support proceedings should take place. The case has drawn attention as Doncic has been one of the biggest stars in the NBA right now, and, of course, due to its cross-border nature and the claims tied to financial outcomes.
At the heart of the matter is a jurisdictional disagreement. Doncic has moved to dismiss a petition filed in California, stating that neither he, Goltes, nor their two daughters are residents of the state.
The filings also point to an ongoing legal process in Slovenia, where he believes the case belongs.

Luka Doncic’s legal team argues that the California filing lacks proper grounds. According to documents, he claims the petition was submitted in Los Angeles despite the family’s ties to Slovenia. The motion states that a family law case had already been initiated there prior to the California filing.
His representatives also addressed the financial aspect tied to the location of the case.
In court filings, the argument centers on the claim that the petition was filed in California to “avail herself of the generous amounts of child support for which California is well-known.”
"Luka has always provided for anything his daughters could need or want and will continue to do so. He will always fight to be with his daughters and give them the best life possible," a spokesperson for Doncic told PEOPLE. "Luka is seeking dismissal of this case simply because Slovenia, not California, is the appropriate forum for adjudication of this dispute."
Doncic previously confirmed the end of his engagement shortly after the birth of their second child. He spoke openly about the decision, stating, "I love my daughters more than anything and I've been doing everything I can for them to be with me in the U.S. during the season, but that hasn't been possible, so I recently made the tough decision to end my engagement. Everything I do is for my daughters' happiness and I will always fight to be with them and give them the best life I can."

To handle the case, Doncic has brought in Laura Wasser, a high-profile lawyer known for representing major public figures. She is often referred to as the “Disso Queen.” The popular lawyer has handled cases for clients across entertainment and sports, including Kim Kardashian, Britney Spears, Angelina Jolie, and Jennifer Garner.
Wasser’s initial filings aim to dismiss the California petition entirely. Her argument focuses on residency, stating that all parties involved are based outside California.
