Infosys co-founder Senapathy Kris Gopalakrishnan turns 71 on April 5. Born in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, the veteran technocrat was among the seven engineers who set up the IT services giant in 1981 with a modest seed capital. He went on to lead the company as chief executive officer and managing director from 2007 to 2011 and later served as vice chairman until 2014. A postgraduate in physics and computer science from IIT Madras, Gopalakrishnan now chairs Axilor Ventures, an early-stage startup accelerator, while advancing philanthropy in education and healthcare through the Pratiksha Trust.
