Vijayawada: Ending days of intense speculation, the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) on Saturday announced the names of Sana Satish, Bhashyam Ramakrishna, and Chintakayala Vijay as its candidates for the Rajya Sabha from Andhra Pradesh.Chief minister and TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu held extensive consultations with senior party leaders and alliance partners before finalising the candidates. The selections reflect a mix of business, education, and political backgrounds.Of the four Rajya Sabha seats falling vacant in Andhra Pradesh, three were allocated to the TDP and one to the Jana Sena Party as part of the NDA alliance arrangement.Sana Satish, a prominent industrialist and sitting Rajya Sabha member, has been renominated for a second term. He is considered close to TDP working president and Andhra Pradesh IT and HRD minister Nara Lokesh and has been actively associated with the party.The party has also chosen Bhashyam Ramakrishna, chairman of Bhashyam Educational Institutions. A native of Guntur district, Ramakrishna has been associated with the TDP for several years and is making his entry into Parliament through the Upper House.Another key nominee is Chintakayala Vijay, a leader of the party’s ITDP wing and son of Andhra Pradesh assembly speaker Chintakayala Ayyannapatrudu. Vijay, who belongs to the BC Velama community, played a prominent role in the TDP’s digital and social media campaigns during the previous YSRCP govt. He also faced multiple police cases during that period, which the party described as politically motivated.Meanwhile, Jana Sena candidate Lingamaneni Ramesh filed his nomination papers on Saturday. With the NDA alliance holding a comfortable majority in the Andhra Pradesh assembly, the election of all four candidates is considered a formality.
