UP police exam aspirant, father killed as speeding vehicle hits bike
Varanasi: A 20-year-old woman, Anchal Sonkar, and her father Prithvi Nath Sonkar (64) of Ramnagar were killed while their neighbour Dinesh Sonkar (24) suffered grave injuries when a speeding vehicle hit their motorcycle near Belwa under Phulpur police station on Tuesday morning.The accident occurred, when Anchal was going to appear for the UP police constable recruitment exam in Jaunpur.Phulpur police station in-charge Rajiv Kumar Singh said that Anchal and Prithvi Nath died on the spot while Dinesh was rushed to BHU Trauma Centre. Meanwhile, police sent the bodies for postmortem and lodged a case against the driver of the unidentified vehicle. Efforts were being made to trace the vehicle, he added.During initial investigation, it came to light that Prithvi Nath, who worked as a labourer, had one son and three daughters. On Tuesday morning, Prithvi Nath requested Dinesh, the son of his family friend of Mughalsarai area in Chandauli district, to take them to the exam centre in Jaunpur on his motorcycle.On Belwa-Nagapur road of Varanasi-Jaunpur bypass road, a speeding vehicle hit their motorcycle, after which Prithvi Nath and Anchal fell on road and run over by the same vehicle. Dinesh suffered serious injuries in the accident .
