Vadodara: A member of the notorious Bichhu Gang was arrested by the Detection of Crime Branch (DCB) on Friday following a tip-off. The accused, identified as Ashpaq Sheikh (40), a resident of Yakutpura, was apprehended near the railway station.
Police said Sheikh had assaulted two men around 12 days ago over an old dispute, injuring one of them with a sharp weapon. A case was registered against him at the City police station, after which he had been on the run.
He has a long criminal history, with 26 offences registered against him, including murder, robbery, extortion, criminal intimidation and gambling. He is also accused of liquor smuggling.
He has also been detained four times under the Prevention of Anti-Social Activities Act.
