Trichy: Trichy’s second industrial park in Thiruverumbur, a dedicated zone after Manapparai industrial park, has been officially notified and the State Industries Promotion Corporation of Tamil Nadu (Sipcot) has launched full-fledged promotions to attract investors. Thiruverumbur industrial estate will be a standalone land parcel, entirely to be allocated to a single investor in the engineering sector.Th industrial park, located adjacent to the Olympic training academy in Trichy semi-ring road, covers 148.9 acres in Elandapatti and Suriyur villages. While boundary walls were not erected, the land parcel was officially notified with an entrance, and sign boards to approach the site from Trichy-Pudukottai national highway and Trichy-Thanjavur NH were erected.“Representatives from six companies have visited the site. We are keen to award the space to a single player in the engineering sector with an aim to generate maximum employment opportunities for youngsters in Trichy, Pudukottai and Thanjavur districts. The industrial site is easily accessible from three districts,” a senior Sipcot official said. Since creating layouts and allocating individual plots to investors based on small, medium, and large-scale operations is challenging and time-consuming, Sipcot will identify a single investor for 99 years lease.
“Sipcot will provide water and electricity facilities. Roads will not be needed as one firm will buy the entire land parcel,” the official added.Trichy international airport located 15km from the industrial park is considered an advantage in wooing multinational investors. Guidance TN, the nodal agency of investment promotion in the state, is reaching out to major engineering firms. Thiruverumbur already has an established ecosystem of Bhel’s ancillary MSMEs, Ordnance Factory Trichy (OFT), High Energy Projectile Factory (HEPF), and private engineering industries supported by small-scale Sidco industrial units in Ariyamangalam, Mathur, and Thuvakudi. The new industrial park is expected to generate at least 5,000 jobs. The site was identified by the district administration in 2024.
