Trichy: With schools reopening on Thursday after the summer vacation, Ariyalur district police reintroduced the ban for heavy vehicles in accessing the roads across the district during peak hours.Since heavy vehicles movement causes traffic congestion and potential accident risks for the public during the rush hour, Ariyalur police instructed heavy vehicles to stay off the roads between 7am and 10am as well as from 3pm to 5.30pm.As Ariyalur district is hub for multiple cement factories and limestone quarries, police said hundreds of trucks moving on highways and interior roads pose risks for students commuting to and from schools. The district administration had first passed such an order in 2016.
