Divy Khare|TNNBokaro: A 14-year-old student, Priyanshu Gulati of Shastri Nagar in Phusro, died after drowning in the Damodar river under Bermo subdivision on Thursday.According to police, the boy had gone out with friends to play cricket and later proceeded to the river along with two companions for bathing. While taking a dip, he accidentally moved into a deeper stretch of water and was unable to come out. Despite efforts by those present, he was swept away.Following the incident, local residents rushed him to the Regional Hospital CCL Dhori, where doctors declared him brought dead. On receiving information, Bokaro DC Ajay Nath Jha and SP Nathu Singh Meena reached the hospital to meet the bereaved family. The DC said, “Permanent warning boards will be installed at dangerous locations along the Damodar river and other water bodies to prevent such incidents in the future. Parents should also ensure strict supervision of children near rivers and ponds.”Authorities have been directed to process compensation under the disaster management scheme for the victim’s family.
