Rajkot: All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Rajkot, is set to mark a key milestone with its first convocation ceremony on April 13. The event will see the institute's inaugural 2020 MBBS batch formally receive their degrees.
"President of India
Droupadi Murmu will preside over the ceremony as the chief guest. She will deliver the convocation address and present degree certificates and medals to the graduating students. The event is also expected to be attended by several dignitaries, including Gujarat governor Acharya Devvrat, Union minister of state for health and family welfare Anupriya Patel, and minister of Gujarat state for health and family welfare Praful Pansheriya," AIIMS said in a statement.
A total of 49 students will be awarded MBBS degrees, while one student will receive a postdoctoral certificate in virology. The President will also present 10 medals to meritorious students—four gold, three silver and three bronze.
Preparations are in full swing, with around 700 attendees expected, including graduates, their parents, faculty, students and local administrators.
Established in 2019 as an Institution of National Importance under the ministry of health and family welfare, AIIMS Rajkot has steadily strengthened its role in healthcare delivery, research and medical education.
