Husband, parents booked for wife’s suicide

Rajkot: Husband of a 28-year-old woman and his parents were booked for allegedly driving her to suicide in Wankaner town of Morbi district.The woman ended her life by consuming acid on Feb 23.The complaint lodged by her brother at the Wankaner City police station. alleges that her husband and in-laws were subjecting her to physical and mental harassment. They taunted her over dowry, claiming that her father had organized a community marriage and had not provided clothes, jewellery, and other customary dowry items as per social traditions. It was also alleged that she was pressured to bring cash and ornaments from her parental home.On Feb 23, the deceased's father received a phone call from her father-in-law informing him that she had consumed acid and had been taken to the Civil Hospital for treatment. However, the doctor on duty declared her dead.
