Patna: In a move to bridge the gap between traditional services and modern digital lifestyle, a next generation (N-Gen) post office was opened on the Rajendra Prasad Central Agricultural University (RPCAU) campus at Pusa (Samastipur district) on Tuesday. The new post office boasts of a vibrant, youth-centric design that doubles as a modern social hub.Inaugurating this post office in the presence of senior officials of the university and Samastipur Postal division, RPCAU’s vice-chancellor P S Pandey said that the transformation is part of a national initiative to modernise postal hubs located within educational campuses, turning them into ‘hangout-cum-service’ centers. He lauded the department of posts for its visionary approach and said the facility is not just a service point but an essential resource for a sound academic environment."This N-Gen initiative will greatly benefit our students and faculty members. By integrating modern, technology-enabled facilities within a traditional framework, it provides an accessible and relevant space for the university family to engage with essential services," the VC said.
The N-Gen post office has been developed under the philosophy of ‘of the students, by the students and for the students’. The office features a dedicated waiting area furnished with comfortable sofas and trendy ‘Gen Z’ chairs, moving away from traditional wooden benches.The post office now houses a free coffee vending machine and a mini library, allowing patrons to read and relax while they wait.Robin, superintendent of post, said the visitors can enjoy free Wi-Fi facility and conduct transactions seamlessly via digital payments (POS/QR codes). Beyond banking, the hub includes indoor games and parcel packaging services, making it a one-stop shop for campus needs, he said.
