Moinul Haq Stadium renovation in 3 years: BCA
Jai Narain PandeyPatna: The renovation work of Moinul Haq Stadium will be completed in three years while the sports stadiums and centres across Bihar will be named after medal-winning athletes. The decisions were taken at separate review meetings of the sports department on Wednesday. Minister Shreyasi Singh said district sports centres, stadiums, grounds, and other sports complexes must be useful and functional for athletes.Bihar Cricket Association (BCA) delivered a detailed presentation regarding the modernisation and construction work of the Moinul Haq stadium. BCA officials informed sports secretary Vinod Singh Gunjiyal that a timeframe of approximately three years has been set for the complete execution of the stadium's international-standard redevelopment and construction.Keeping in mind the future hosting of major and international sporting events, Gunjiyal directed the BCA to formulate a robust ‘crowd management’ action plan in advance. He clarified that following the redevelopment, the stadium's total capacity would be approximately 40,000 spectators. Therefore, plans regarding security, traffic flow, and other basic infrastructure arrangements must be designed with this long-term perspective in mind.
The Sports Authority of India (SAI) centre currently operating within the stadium complex will be shifted to other suitable sports complexes within Patna itself. During the meeting, the minister emphasised that all sports infrastructure being developed at the block and district levels within the state must be constructed under the supervision of sports experts and experienced sports infrastructure consultants.A visit to the Bihar Sports University was also decided to observe and assess the progress of the batches currently studying there.
