Man found hanging from tree in West Champaran; family alleges murder by friends
Bettiah: A 23-year-old man was found hanging from a mango tree in a field near Shera Bazar under Bathwariya police station area in West Champaran district on Wednesday morning. The deceased was identified as Rangila Yadav, a resident of Chandraul village under Nawalpur police station jurisdiction.The reason for the death is not known. An FIR has been filed in this connection.Police took the body into custody and sent it the sub-divisional hospital for the postmortem.Victim’s cousin, Bechu Yadav, said Rangila was engaged as a worker in Gorakhpur and had returned home on Tuesday. “He went to visit a fair at Shera Bazar with some of his friends in the evening. When he did not return till late night, the family began searching for him. Based on mobile location and inputs from locals, his body was found hanging from a mango tree in a field away from the market,” he said.Family members alleged foul play, claiming that Rangila was murdered and his body was later hanged from a tree to make it appear like a suicide. “A ‘gamchha’ was tied around his neck and he was hung from the tree. We suspect his friends are involved in the killing, possibly due to an old dispute,” the family alleged.Bathwariya police station in charge Neetu Kumari said, “Police are probing the case from all angles. The exact cause of death will be ascertained after the autopsy report comes.”
