Dairy owner shot at & abducted, Loni SHO suspended
The attack took place around 6.50am on Saturday near the bend by the Khadkhadi railway underpass
Ghaziabad: A dairy farm owner was shot at multiple times, bundled into a car and abducted in broad daylight near a railway underpass in Loni on Saturday, days after he was involved in a road-rage incident with a group of men from his own village.More than 24 hours later, Omkar (44) remained untraced, with police yet to establish whether he is alive or dead. The attack took place around 6.50am on Saturday near the bend by the Khadkhadi railway underpass when Omkar, a resident of Ganauli village, was on his way to Loni to buy dry fodder for his buffaloes. In his complaint, Omkar’s elder brother Surendra named Gaurav, Saurabh alias Bhola, Gopal, another Gaurav, Mohit and others from the same village. “They fired several rounds at my brother, then forcibly put him into a vehicle and took him away,” he said.Police later inspected the spot and seized blood samples and five to six empty cartridges.Surendra said this was not the first attack on his brother. “On May 20 too, the accused had followed my brother and attacked him. An FIR was registered at Loni police station,” he added.Surendra Nath Tiwari, DCP (rural), said the earlier clash was linked to a road rage.
Since both sides were from the same village, local panchayat members had tried more than once to settle the dispute, but failed.“On Saturday, the accused came in a Swift car, opened fire at the victim and then took him away in the same vehicle. More than 10 teams are working on the case. CCTV footage from nearby areas is being checked as well,” he added.Tiwari said Loni SHO Mukesh Solanki had been suspended and a departmental inquiry ordered against the station in-charge too.
